It’s a world that, until a few years ago, no one knew existed. EXTREME DEEP: Mission to the Abyss sponsored by John Hancock Financial Services and Discovery Channel is a blockbuster interactive exhibit that highlights the adventure of deep-sea exploration and discovery. And it’s now traveling to the nation’s most prestigious science museums nationwide for five years.
The exhibit offers opportunities for hands-on exploration of life at the bottom of the sea. EXTREME DEEP is presented by Evergreen Exhibitions in collaboration with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) of Woods Hole, Mass.

EXTREME DEEP: Mission to the Abyss, an exhibit that depicts the mysteries of the ocean’s greatest depth and puts deep-sea exploration technology in the hands of visitors.
WHEN: The exhibit is touring 15 cities nationwide.
WHY: To tell the amazing stories of newly discovered life forms including giant, red-tipped tube worms and clams the size of dinner plates, underwater volcanoes, shipwrecks includingTitanic, and thermal vents that spew hydrogen sulfide which support never-before-seen life in a deep-sea interactive, museum adventure.
EXTREME DEEP, designed for ages 6 and older, highlights the importance of geology, history, biology and chemistry in deep-sea exploration. The exhibit also studies the critical role technology plays for industry, the government and academic research in understanding our world and its future.
