The Ancient Basilica
Bust of an Angel, a colorful mosaic attributed to the great 14th century painter, Giotto, is displayed in this gallery, along with architectural drawings, paintings and castings, telling the story of the original Saint Peter’s Basilica built by the Roman emperor, Constantine.
Art of the Liturgy
Liturgical and ceremonial objects are often cherished objects of art. Objects ranging from an ornate 16th century processional cross to the chalice, paten and ciborium of Pope John Paul II are displayed as examples of decorative arts that reflect the beauty of faith.
